Yoooooooo I'm so happy I finally did it!! This is my second lv. 27 FC (after Redo) and was a super fun beatmap to play. It's also probably the closest I'll ever come to getting an EX goals title hahhah ....

Y.O.L.O!!!!! and asu no yozora shoukaihan

yolo was the first afterglow original i actually really liked (to me, scarlet sky and how i roll sounded kinda like "cheap rock" (TO ME PLS DON'T KILL ME).) however, i like every afterglow cover, so picking a fav was harder... my fav cover has to be asu no yozora because the afterglow version of the song has a completely different character than the original song which i think is super cool!

Hoo boy...

Day 8: Favorite Roselia Character

Roselia Roselia Roselia...

I have a lot to talk about them.

While I may be a Popipa Fan, Roselia has a special place in my heart.

Believe it or not, Roselia is the Band that got me into the Bandori Franchise in general. Without them, I probably wouldn't be here tbh.

It is mostly in due part of the characters. As mentioned in a previous day, I love Sayo as much as Hina and I believe their (platonic) dynamic is one of the best in the franchise.

But I won't talk about Sayo.

Why?

Because there is a certain Roselia that is ranked higher for me.

In fact, she is tied with Kasumi as my best girl.

Minato Yukina

We are finally here.

Minato Yukina. Also known as Yukinyan, Yuki-chan, and Kasumi's Girlfriend, Yukina is one of the best developed characters in all of Bandori.

Originally a slightly arrogant solo singer aiming to best her Father (who suspiciously looks like a Kirito and Joker lovechild), she believed that one must dedicate oneself to music in order to succeed. She always strives to reach to the summit and would go the distance just to get there though she could

While this mindset still persists in GBP and after both of Roselia's Band Stories, she since began to be more mellow and friendly towards others (especially with Kasumi). This is especially evident during conversations with Band members outside of Roselia. Even before her development, Yukina had always loved cats and shows her softer (and cuter) side whenever one is nearby.

Many people's accusations of Yukina being harsh in S2E2 are mostly baseless, as Yukina is still an introverted girl that has poor communication skills, leading her to say rather blunt things to other people. While it makes her look arrogant and overconfident, she really means well but has no other way of communicating that to others. More on Yukina's harshness later.

My favorite part about Yukina, however, are her interactions with Kasumi and her relationship with said Star Kitty. Yukina has a massive soft spot for Kasumi and that soft spot is very evident in their area conversations and in Garupa Pico Ep21. Part of this reason is because Kasumi, obviously, looks like a cat, and acts like one at times too (even to the point where she hates swimming!). While she is harsh to other people, this harsh demeanor is mostly nonexistent whenever she is with Kasumi. In fact, the reason why I see Yukina more than just an arrogant bitch is because of these conversations.

While much of this relationship is mostly cat-based, there is also a level of respect the two hold for each other. Kasumi is obviously enamored with Yukina's skill and professionalism and respects her as a vocalist and a senpai (Kasumi refers to Yukina as Yukina-senpai). Yukina meanwhile admires Kasumi's guts and willingness to work hard.

But what I love about this relationship (and the YukiKasu ship in general) is how the two can compliment each other in many ways, even using their personalities to cover their negative spots. Yukina using her position as a senpai to control Kasumi's impulsiveness while teaching her to be a good singer. Kasumi taking Yukina out on dates to help her chill out more and show her a life beyond complete dedication to music.

Remember Yukina's harshness towards Kasumi and Popipa? She cares for Kasumi and wants to see her improve. Or maybe she wants Popipa to break up so she can finally adopt Kasumi.

While this may seem to be like a whole YukiKasu TED Talk, it is her interactions with Kasumi that I love Yukina as much as I do now. I love it when Yukina gets more mellow and I also love how much she wants to see Kasumi and Popipa improve. This is why Kasumi and Yukina are tied for best Bandori girl: They both bring the best out of each other.

Now if only CowardEgg releases a YukiKasu event that shows this sort of relationship at work...

Event: Kirakira Science Project Members: Kasumi, Eve, Hina, Kanon, Ran Event Story in a nutshell: It’s student exchange week and Ran, Hina and a few other people have been posted to Hanasakigawa Girls High for the exchange. At the end of the exchange week, all the students get into groups to do a science project. The five are put together and let’s just say at first it was a mess. Hina was peering at the stuff in Hanasakigawa’s lab and says it was Boppin! Eve wants to do a very “Bushido” science project, Kanon is scared of the chemicals and goes Fuee when she messes up, and Kasumi keeps admiring the “Kira Kira” things in the lab. Feeling annoyed, Ran takes charge and actually does an amazing job.

Gacha: Sparkling Scientific Discoveries Gacha

4 star: Hina “Science is BOPPIN’!” Special Voice clip when you get her in the gacha: “Hey! Ran! These chemicals are so boppin!’” Skill Name: Fly, Chemical, Fly! Desc: Untrained: Hina in her Hanoeka uniform and a lab coat, peering at a blue chemical mixture, with Kanon behind her, looking terrified. Trained: Hina is dressed in a night sky coloured lab coat that glows and has glitter and constellations on it. Her hair is tied up into a braid and she is holding a thermometer and a flask. Her eyes are sparkling and it looks like she’s in a larger version of a beaker. On her head she is wearing a witch’s hat that has star charms on it and it looks like it’s made out of crystal.

4 star Ran “Labaratory Leader” Voice Clip: “Science is okay, I guess.” Skill Name: What’s this Chemical Anyway? Untrained: Ran is standing confidently in front of the blackboard, which has a few chemistry stuff written on it. She’s holding a bubbling yellow concoction that’s overflowing in one hand and a glass rod in the other. Trained: In a glow in the dark lab coat like Hina, and she’s standing back to back with her in the same beaker and smiling confidently. She’s also wearing glasses like Maya’s but more reddish. Her red streak is braided and she has a pair of loose lab goggles on her head. She’s holding her guitar, which also has a glow in the dark touch, and she has a crystallized pick in her other hand, and a glass rod sticking out from her mouth.

3 star Kasumi “Looking for a Sparkling Combination!” Skill Name: “Ooh! Sparkly!” Untrained: Kasumi closing one eye and peering through the beaker. The beaker has green liquid inside and a few glittery stones. Eve is at the side, sketching a graph. Trained: Kasumi is wearing the same witch hat like Hina, but hers is red and it has five star charms on it to match Popipa. Under her lab coat, she has a short red skirt with chemical formulas on it. Her guitar is glow in the dark and is swinging as she isn’t holding it. She is sitting on a metal ball that looks like newton’s pendulum.

3 star Eve “Do you think we can make this project Bushido?” “Bushido, Boppin, Sparkling!” Skill Name: Bushido Boiling Untrained: Eve is setting up a Bunsen burner and behind her, Kanon is looking terrified and Hina is going :O. Ran is also at the side, staring at some blue powder. Trained: Eve is wearing a purple lab coat, winking and she is wearing lab goggles and posing for the camera with what seems to be a cyber samurai sword! She’s also wearing a top hat that looks like it’s a hologram. She’s standing behind her keyboard and among giant flasks of chemicals.

2 star Kanon: “Fuee=mc2” Skill Name: Formulas?! Kanon is shyly grinning and kneeling down in this card. She’s wearing a light blue witch’s hat.

WARNING! SPOILERS for BanG Dream! Season 1. At least some may consider them spoilers so I'm putting this out here. No chances taken, you know? If you haven't seen it, go watch it, it's the story of Poppin'Party's formation. It's THE origin point for PoPiPa. Just make sure that you finish it and don't drop it. Otherwise, if you have seen it or don't care (which you should care, words cannot describe everything), here we go.

Day 15/30: Favourite Origin Story

They did. They came back strong for Season 2.

The story of the Star-Seeker Kasumi searching for the Star Beat as she rounds up the Shut-in Tsundere Arisa, the Choco-Lover Rimi, the Judgemental Tae and the Truthspeaker Saya. I feel like half of these titles don't sound right...

I had a hard time deciding if PoPiPa or PasuPare deserved this spot but the main factor that led me to choose PoPiPa is the character development. From my memory, PasuPare's band story 1 mainly focuses on the conflicting ideologies of Aya and Chisato. If there were moments from Eve, Maya or Hina, they must have not merited a spot in my long-term memory (which means not impactful because my long-term memory is top notch). Yes, PoPiPa has a tiny bit of an advantage being from an anime and not Live2D in a mobile game but that doesn't change what happens to the characters. Rimi gains the courage to stand on the same stage as her sister, Tae realises her dream of performing isn't a dream but reality, Saya regains her love for performing, overcomes the weight of caring for her family and reconciles with CHiSPA's members, Arisa... um... gets friends? In all seriousness, Arisa wanted nothing to do with Kasumi and her antics. She gave her the Random Star to get her to leave her alone but she ends up roped into Kasumi's antics. Little by little, she starts to care for the band and its members, to the point where after the final SPACE audition, she breaks down immediately for messing up, frightened that she ruined their chances to perform at SPACE's final live. Speaking of SPACE auditions, Kasumi learns that she isn't alone; that she doesn't need to shoulder responsibility by herself. Her carelessness led to her losing her voice and we see a SUBDUED KASUMI THAT BROKE MY HEART! Once she does regain her voice, she finds she doesn't have the courage to sing and runs away, leading to the best moment of the season in the park (in my opinion). Her friends show that they'll stand with her, no matter what and they split the vocals for Mae e Susume!/Keep On Moving! Now whenever I listen to Mae e Susume!, it reminds me of the journey each character had and the time when they all stood on the same stage to perform at SPACE. For some reason, it didn't have the same effect with Yumemiru Sunflower. I think it's because I was a little bit annoyed at the time that they didn't perform Mae e Susume! at the end. Yes, I know now why they didn't because repeat songs but from a narrative view, still peeved.

I never really understood why some people view Season 1 in an unfavourable light and I still don't. I know it's not that hard to please me but it is hard to make me cheer from the bottom of my heart to fictional characters displayed on a monitor.

Imagine if all bands' origins got an anime. That would take a lot to produce but it would absolutely be amazing. Especially if they're filled with moments like those found in Season 1 and 2. The other bands deserve the spotlight, just as much as the first band created for the BanG Dream! Project.

Season 1 changed a lot of my opinions. I started to love Tae and Arisa. Saya became best girl. Mae e Susume became a song I like. If In August became a song I love. Most importantly, Poppin'Party became my favourite band.

There's so much more that (I think) I wanted to talk about but this is long enough. Now, we wait for the end of Season 2 and the start of Season 3. If there's anything up there that is factually incorrect, forgive me, I watched Season 1 back in August, I think.

Is it just me or does this feel like it's more about Season 1 than their origin story? Well, Season 1 IS their origin story, right? I swear, this post is about their origin story.
