hello hello I bring ARGONAVIS news of a slightly different variety today!
the coupling song for the Puchigonavis tankobon, Hey! Argonavis, was premiered today on Navigator Radio! I ... would like to tell you what it sounds like, but it seems the archive isn't up on the HiBiKi Radio site / app yet (episode 4 is still up instead), so you've gotta wait for that. go check out the episode (episode 5) once it is! or maybe they'll upload it on YouTube, idk.
maybe it's a timezone thing, actually ... since it's still the 16th here ...
I did hear though that it was a very cute song. so make of that what you will.
//e: it's up now and IT'S A VERY CUTE SONG INDEED
aaaand in a very interesting twist of fate, the manga adaptation has finally made good on that promise of diverging from the main storyline. I mean kinda sorta. they already kinda did. but only a little bit.
introducting a character called Iryuu Kouga, former member of the super popular band SYANA, he's "that person" Ren refers to (in the manga, unlike in the anime he has a specific person he was inspired by) that he saw at DesFes way back when. SYANA has broken up by now, and Iryuu seems to be looking for a band that catches his attention / is good enough for him, which he finally finds in Argonavis. (whose first live is much less of a disaster than it was in the anime lol.) Ren runs after him as he leaves, but he's off before the members can talk to him any further, and the chapter ends with him calling Mashuu about the "interesting band" that he found and how he should consider them as Gyro's opening band for the next live.
as someone who appreciates it when adaptations take different routes instead of just copying the source material, I'm actually super into this lol, also the fact that it's the person Ren admired who's now getting them these opportunities instead of just Mashuu is pretty poetic, huh? right now it seems very much like an alternate road to the same destination, and that's just rly neat.
manga canon is pretty separate from main canon in the route it takes, but some people did point out his nekomimi hairstyle ... idk if he's old enough to be Nayuta's infamous father, but this IS also the chapter that formally introduced Gyro, and right in the beginning a bartender did mention Gyro (though he never got to finish the sentence) to him ... but I always just kinda assumed that Nayuta's father was still active ... we'll just have to wait and see!
also.
if it wasn't for the speech bubbles this would be a great reaction image.
the manga is free to read on Shounen Jump Plus!! no idea if a translation group has picked it up or not, but if you understand JP or are fine just looking at pictures, please read the official source okay thank uuuu
and while I'm here, may as well mention that sales for the WEGO collab have been underway since the thirteenth. I paid for shipping for my Ren hoodie today coughs. and if you need any more reason to check it out ... I mean just look at them.

and yeah that's about it, I mainly wanted to talk about the manga, but then I didn't wanna make a separate post for the song preview, so ......
