My favourite Afterglow character is Tsugumi and, boy, I have a lot I love about Tsugumi. In my opinion, Tsugumi is one of the most underappreciated characters in Bandori, and I find it funny because even though Sayo is praised for her inferiority complex and her characterization regarding that, I find it upsetting when Tsugumi is overlooked to be the "plain" one - even though I would argue that her inferiority complex is just as or even more interesting as Sayo's. Tsugumi is a hardworker, just like myself, but is always overshadowed by the members of her band. Her best and dearest friends. Tsugumi, in comparison, feels like the plainest out of the group - which is a relatable feature as many us, although we love our friends dearly, sometimes can't help comparing ourselves to them; how they're funnier than us, how they're prettier than us, how they're more popular than us, etc. Tsugumi highlights how she tries to overcome this through overworking herself, which is not healthy. And, even more tragically, this, in my opinion, leads to her downfall. Tsugumi tried too hard. She became student council member, a representative of the school, and was still overshadowed. She created the idea for her band, only to be overshadowed yet again. Tsugumi tries and tries, but this only leads to her being overlooked. And when she does overwork herself, in my opinion, it is some sort of cruel joke that the game ignores her from that point on seemingly. She never seems included in, and becomes truly overshadowed. This is evidence by Tomoe's initial 3 star art and scenario, where are all the girls of Afterglow are included in this key moment...expect Tsugumi, who is in the background, as always. Not to mention, Tsugumi is overlooked and sometimes downgraded by the fandom as "Just a normal girl", which the game encourages. It's horrible. But, what make Tsugumi shine, and perhaps makes her stronger than Sayo, is the fact that she is able to smile. She is able to keep trying and get back off her feet. She is experimental and her efforts are a joy to watch. Even though her band members overshadow her, she is still kind and tolerant towards them - unlike Sayo, who actually damaged her relationship with her sister because of her complex (it might seem like I'm dissing Sayo here but trust me that she'll get her praise soon enough). Tsugumi is inspirational and shows that even if others are better than you in terms of appearance, talents, intelligence, etc that you can still brighten up someone's day with your optimism and sweetness, which, in my opinion, should be valued more. Tsugumi is a sweetheart and really encourages me with her smile and I will always be rooting for her. As for her cards, they're a real joy to get with her adorable smile. I know my reasoning for Tsugumi is not great and probably incorrect, but this is what I got from her character. She's tragic, sure, but she manages to keep that smile on her face, and that merits her as my third best girl in the franchise.

the gacha 3 star is hagumi dressed up as spongebob because spongebob is a big meme and hagumi would be obsessed with memes

the event would have a 3 star kanon dressed up as nyan cat because nyan cat is cute just like kanon so its perfect

and finally we have the 2 star kaoru who would be the arthurs fist meme. the card would just have kaoru very zoomed in and you would only be able to see her fist and then her costume would literally just be arthurs outfit

I haven’t posted anything not related to Arisa on here and I promise I love the other girls too but I just? Have an urge to gush about why she’s my absolute fav?

I understand why she grates on some people and that’s totally cool, I wouldn’t be offended at all if you said outright that you hated her with a passion. But! I love her. I have since pretty much the first moment she showed up in the game.

• Yes she’s a tsun, yes I wish the writers would tone down that aspect of her personality a little so we’re not reminded of it constantly, but she’s more than just a trope. She has the emotional range of a tsun but also enough depth so that she’s not just always vacillating between her tiny angry bean self and her fluffy caramel-filled eclair self. I love that she’s a brutal realist and the logical thinker in any situation, not because she’s a smartass but because she worries about everything and that’s how she processes and works through her misgivings.
• I have A Thing for characters who seem like cynical sarcastic jerks but are actually super nice (which I realise sounds kinda like a description of a tsun but y’know, beyond the stereotype of getting pissy and blushing). Arisa may snap at Kasumi a lot but when Kasumi breaks her guitar Arisa just immediately goes with her to get it repaired because she doesn’t wanna see her cry and her actions are so much more reliable than her words.
• When she screws up at PoPiPa’s audition (even though they all kinda do) she’s the one who breaks down because she feels responsible and Arisa please don't, my HEART
• That exasperated but fond little smile she has in the game sometimes? There’s just this loneliness about it combined with the way her voice softens and idk she seems like the sort of person who would resign themselves to doing things alone and that also hurts my heart.
• I really relate to her need to put up a sweet polite front when she’s with people she doesn’t know well. It’s uncomfortable as heck seeing her act like that but it’s so obvious that she can’t keep it up for long and it tires her out and I feel her pain acutely, since I’m also a jaded pessimist who tries so so hard to smile and look approachable before giving up bc it doesn’t come naturally to me sob
• Her voice is adorable and Su-Suki Nanka Janai cracks me up because everything about it captures her quick-fire thought processes and dorkiness so perfectly

During that time, Lisa and Moca happen to be in the area and hear the conversation between the dads. They hatch up a masterplan to use the dad's friendship as a way to get their band's vocalists to get along for once.

Yes, Kanon is my best harohapi girl but hagu needs love don’t you think?

To be totally honest, I used to hate Hagumi because I hated Genki girls with short hair, but after reading thru her event stories and her profile she’s just an adorable orange bean?! She supports Kokoro in all of her crazy ideas while dealing with her obnoxious parents at home (refer to initial Hagumi ep1)

As someone who shares her birthday and horoscope with her, I realized I can relate with her in many ways I never knew before.

So I just want to say: I’m sorry Hagumi for hating you at first. I promise to treat you better.
