it's a testament to BanDori's quality as a game and franchise that I've been pretty much playing since JP release and I still haven't grown tired of it. there's occasionally times when I pick it up less, but I always come back.
I'm actually really picky with mobage - I need to be both invested in the general franchise AND a fan of the gameplay to stick with them (I know some people who can ignore gameplay if they like the characters enough, to whom I say you are so powerful oh my god), which is why I start a lot of games only to drop them quickly. even among rhythm games, things like DereSute or NanaOn (the latter of which is really similar to BanDori) didn't manage to keep me invested despite liking the source material and being perfectly serviceable as games.
the only ones I currently play consistently are GaruPa and SIFAS (used to play SIF more, but I rly don't like the way cards are handled now so hhh). I can also imagine getting invested in GuruMiku because the demo was super fun, and of course there's AAside coming out next Spring which I'm looking forward to both because I love my boys and because I'm in desperate need of a jouseimuke mobage with gameplay I actually enjoy ... but like, AAside gameplay so far looks to be just GaruPa but with more stuff added (while GuruMiku is more unique), so of course I'm gonna like it.
idk what it is about BanDori, but the rhythm gameplay feels just right, the art is beautiful, the menus are easy to navigate and pretty to look at, they're not that stingy with items & events (unlike SOME games //stares at EnStars Music) ... it all comes together perfectly.
basically what I'm saying is we all talk about the girls and the cards and the songs which are all wonderful, but every so often I gotta take a step back and appreciate the game itself. I'm having lots of fun with it and I'm not growing tired of it despite having been here for over three years, which is quite the feat!
tl;dr GaruPa good
