hinarina
so uhh nobody asked but i feel obligated to pay tribute to the (belated) birthday of my all time favorite character, hina! anybody who takes time to read this i will absolutely cherish, but i just want to express the enjoyment i've derived from this painful mobile game over the past 2 years and the happiness i've experienced from a teal-haired pixel 2d anime girl
before the game released to jp, i was keeping updated with it for about a month prior. i initially fell for arisa and aya just from introductions and the first week or so of the game. little did i know, some girl named hina hikawa would come in and TEAR APART the competition
i can't really pinpoint what first drew me to her, because it all sort of hit me at once. i started reading the pasupare story, and as soon as i heard her start talking and looked into her personality, i KNEW that the number one spot had been replaced.
i've always been drawn to energetic types of characters, however, hina is very VERY unique. she had so much more depth than i ever could have expected - she was a genius, and it left her unable to properly understand other people's struggles. i felt so inclined to finish the pasupare story to watch as hina grew to be so much more understanding of her bandmates and people overall.
i love her humor. something about her backhanded compliments always gets a laugh out of me and reading her interactions with other bandori girls makes me light up!
speaking of her relationships, let's talk about her and our other birthday girl (and my 5th best girl), sayo! i could talk on and on about my love for them. the tanabata festival event is one of my favorites EXACTLY for this reason. sayo's inferiority complex is something i can heavily relate to myself, as well as hina's desire to have the same relationship they had as kids. they both care for eachother so much and it makes me so happy to see the different ways they show appreciation for eachother (ex. hina bringing sayo fries in garupa pico, and sayo taking hina's guitar to play in season 2). although they're rather subtle, the hikawa sisters relationship as a whole makes me SO happy., and seeing how sayo has warmed up to hina so much more warms my heart. i just LOVE these girls so damn much and they are the perfect example of polar opposites done right.
now, onto the part where hina hikawa robs me of my money
i've been saving pulls on top of pulls for hina since her first 4* released on jp. to my luck, of course, i didn't get her first card despite pulling about 5 times. or her second card. or her third.
at this rate, i had given up on playing jp bandori as i had a pretty unappealing account with about 4 4 star cards at rank 110ish. this was when bandori en was announced. what is this? ANOTHER CHANCE TO GET MY FAVORITE GIRL?! to put it lightly, you could say i was ecstatic. the day en gbp came out, i started saving as many stars as i could.
a few months later, the day comes to pull for tanabata hina. i have 10 pulls ready and i'm feeling confident. well... that confidence was quickly beat into the ground when i got all 3 star pulls. until the final one. i saw those rainbow glowsticks and FREAKED THE FUCK OUT. i tabbed and at the very end, i was greeted with tanabata sayo.
while i would've happily taken her had i not spent 25k stars on a card that didn't show up, bitter wasn't even a strong enough word to describe how i felt. i continued playing bandori after, but i was beginning to lose motivation. i had been trying so hard for a long time to get even a single card of this girl.
i pretty much went on a hiatus until about august of last year, where i started searching around for starter accounts because i got so fed up with wasting money and pulls to get nothing, and i found my perfect account - all of hina's 4 star cards to date (which was 3 at the time), and birdcage yukina. a 4 4 star starter, which i was more than satisfied with.
i took the account for a pretty decent price, imo, for $30. and with that, i grew that account massively. in the 6 or so months i've had it, it's gone from a 4 4 star card starter to 37 fucking 4 star cards, which is absolutely unbelievable considering i nearly left a game i loved dearly because of having terrible luck.
i won't make this go on any longer than it already has, but i'll just go on to say that hina has been incredibly generous to me. out of 7 pulls for her halloween card, she managed to come out on the VERY. LAST. PULL. as for constellation hina, i went a bit nuts and spent 100 dollars for extra pulls thinking that i would need them, despite getting her on my second pull along with western tomoe and constellation sayo!
just to summarize, i just want to say i love you so much hina. happy birthday you sweet, pure angel. i hope it's just as boppin' as you are. thank you for blessing me so much, you will always be my #1. <3

day 16: favorite limited gacha

anyway even though i would actually die for one night magic , springtime sunrise , and grand scarlet stage, i think i just really adore this set because it oozes improvement in every aspect
compare it to the also gorgeous original wedding day gacha. the original one was simple yet refined, and was more of a classy-modern wedding event. it was also the very first limited gacha for bandori! however, this new one, you can really see the improvement. the lighting has been improved, the art style has been tweaked and refined beautifully, and the outfits are just stunning!! instead of classy-modern, they went classic-modern, and btw arikasu in a wedding outfit? BABEYS
eve is also crying which really emphasizes the whole wedding thing because its supposed to be emotional
anyway this set really is just gorgeous and is another example of bushimos improvement and im just dkfjskjfdSDKFJSD HAPPY PRIDE MONTH WEDDING GAYS

popping back here after twenty years just to ramble about just how incredibly stunning miss ichigaya arisa is
my jaw just dropped the moment i saw it like oh my god!!!! this has got to be my all-time favourite event 3* it's just so breathtaking,, from how the wind catches her veil mid-air and frames the dancing petals perfectly to her expression! the little furrow of her eyebrows and the embarrassed smile she hides behind her bouquet really gets me aaaaa arisa ilysm
i'm so glad this is an event 3* bc i would run my stars dry scouting for her TT

day fifteen: favorite origin story
as much as i love harohapi and the other bands, this would have to go the pasupare!!!
ok i know i skipped days 13 and 14 but thats because,,, i really cant yell about goya no machiawase and passionate anthem again
anyway although harohapi always holds a special place in my heart, i adore paspals origin story the most. imo it fit together really well and it just warms my heart when i think about it even more
they started off as a group of strangers not even knowing each other. aya was in her third (otherwise known as final) year of idol-in-training, desperate and hanging onto every thread she could grasp for just a chance at making her debut. pasupare was really the door to her dreams and she barely flew through. this was ayas life work, basically. then there was chisato, a childhood actress who held an excellent poker face and mask to emotions. friendship had never really registered for her, and her heart was left isolated because nobody valued her for chisato shirasagi, and people only saw her as the famous actress that appeared on tv. pastel palettes was not chisatos dream job per se, but it was a new gateway that she was willing to pursue albeit hesitantly. chisato wanted to find something that would really make her happy- and an idol band may welcome her to a new group of friends. theres eve, a model who did not truly belong to japan and hailed from finland. eve tried all she could to belong in her new country and immersed herself in japanese culture, striving to truly become japanese and thus her core was built: bushido, the way of a truthful warrior. pastel palettes was yet another path for eve, and she was ready to display herself as an idol for the rest of japan, and she dreamed of inspiring others in her new home. theres also hina, a part of a pair that was slowly separating and there was nothing she could do. hinas own twin sister started to drift away, becoming more hostile even, as she picked up new hobbies more and more until hinas sister settled on the guitar. with all her heart, hina wanted to make her sister proud, to be close with her sister again, so she picked up guitar and auditioned for really /anything/ so she could have another similarity with her sibling. pastel palettes was hinas chance to "prove" to her sister that she could be like her, and she was craving for another chance to make her sister see that hina was worthy of looking at. she was unaware of all the inferiority bubbling inside of her sister that hina almost destroyed their bond trying to impress her twin, and she just wanted another chance. finally theres maya, your everyday background character, as portrayed. she was nothing but a "support member", intended to be just a placeholder before the staff found a "real idol" to take her place. always criticized for her plain looks and 'nerdy' passion for technical equipment, maya has always been considered a backstage girl, but there she was in the spotlight, without her glasses, in a frilly idol costume. she considered herself a boring girl yet now she was surrounded by such supportive girls, one who even told maya that she was beautiful and was worthy of pasupare. pastel palettes was mayas first chance to show herself instead of being cooped away as the placeholder, and she was willing to let people see her, too. she was ready to become a part of pasupare, a soon-to-be popular idol band and wanted to show people what she could accomplish.
these five girls banded together through thick and thin, even when their 'secret' was discovered. aya and chisato stood in the pouring rain, despite their difference, to sell tickets and promote their now honest fame. together, they all did their best to learn their instruments so they could truly present themselves as pastel palettes. at each others sides, they realize being an idol was not as cutesy as they seemed, but they all persevered. because everything they worked for was for their dream, each of their individual goals. they could not throw it away. together, they all come to terms that they are idols in their own way, no matter how bumpy the road was or may be. pasupare's story is one of perseverance and friendship through technical difficulties and personal ones, and is really a deep story about accepting who they are and being proud of it, no matter how people reacted. they will always shine, once again, luminous.
