because everyone is deciding to post their opinions and i enjoy reading them, i'm gonna put in my own 2 cents

while i DID feel like bandori needed to add something new soon to keep fans engaged, all this was not it,,, like i just meant putting mygo in the game or something,,, we didn't need all this

i like the 3dmvs, in the sense that i like that they're there. i'm not one for 3dmvs or mvs in general while playing beatmaps mostly because they make me lose focus and also because i love seeing the pretty four star art more than i like seeing the girlies play instruments

mastery can be,,, interesting, though i wonder what that's going to do to the michelle sticker exchange. personally it feels too convoluted and too much like a cash grab. the thing i like best about bandori is how easy it can be to get enough stars for scouting, and then how f2p players can be easily on par with players who decide to spend money on the game. mastery kinda ruins that, and so does the new premium pass system, which i absolutely despise 0/10

i like character rank because i like seeing my little numbers go up, makes me happy that i can max out ran and people know that i love her. honestly wouldn't be opposed to fully taking pjsekai's special daily live that boosts the heck out of that and gives you really good rewards for the day, as well as their cute team/duo rankings, but i digress

the thing that pisses me off the most is probably the u.i. change, because i don't think it needed to happen, and then the cramped as heck new profile cards that appear in lives and have a disgusting mix between 3D live, 2D live, and card art with the tiny little thing in the corner showing your band leader yeah no i wasn't itching for that much more to put on my card,,, please put it back the way it was. the art style change is fine, but a bit upsetting in that they're trying to make bandori like every other rhythm game and they didn't need to do that i think we were all chilling.

i think people are valid in relating it to pjsekai just with the kind of changes that are being made, but its true that a lot of other rhythm games have those things, which tbh makes me dislike it more. i'm not a fan necessarily of pjsekai, i play it but i find it disgustingly difficult to level up and ascend your cards, plus i hate that i can't even see any of the pretty art in the lives. i love bang dream, and i very much don't want to let her go. luckily i don't play on the jpn server, so i assume most if not all of these implementations won't be coming to endori anytime soon. anyways this update is so wild to me,,, they're like 'happy 6 years we're uprooting everything you've worked towards,,,' which is wild. i'm interested to know how people are responding tho. congrats if this is what you were looking for bandori to be tho

Bandori pls don’t make your art style generic we like the original one and the new ones remind me of project sekai idk why

drastically changing the artstyle you've been establishing for six years in your ongoing mobage is an asinine idea no matter how you slice it, whether you make them look like walking goddesses or turn them into desaturated zombies with no joy in their eyes; either commit to making an entirely new project where the old artstyle won't be featured at all anymore (this includes through old cards) or just work with what you already had

some two or so years later I actually really like the style (dare I say I prefer it?) but I still think changing it randomly makes the game look super awkward sometimes and was a really stupid idea (hello mixture of live2ds). more importantly, WOW these original renders were bad, didn't do the girls justice at all. I‘m very glad the actual cards don't look this soulless

alright so i guess everyone is dropping their hot takes about the new features for 6th anni so ill hop on the bandwagon and drop mine too.

first of all the ui isnt that bad. it looks Fine. they pretty much just removed the thick sheen of gloss that every button had, that gloss reminds me of how every logo in the 2000s and early 2010s looked like they were just coated in orange glow. but regardless, itll take some getting used to but its not horrible. the ui needed a change either way that shit was getting dated lmfao if you like how outdated ui's look then play idolmaster or sm idk

introduction of 5* rarities feels weird. they just enstar'd my bandori. but it makes the rates better so i am not complaining about it

the 3d models look Fine. significantly better now than in the first announcement. the lighting in the 3dmvs looks weird asf but hopefully theyll buffer that out over time. bandori is one of the only games of its genre that has lagged behind on having any 3d so im happy they caught up w the times.

the introduction of cr and mastery rank are not stolen straight from sekai yall. sekai is not the only other gacha rhythm game. if anything itll keep ppl like me who have hyperfixated on sekai for months because they like seeing the little number next to their oshis go up !! i love seeing my blorbos number increase.

girl wtf going on with the profiles. thats it they do not look good at all. pubs look WAY too cluttered with all the badges and banners and 3d models and live 2d models and cards and auughhhg. terrible. NOT a fan of whatever is going on w those. just rip off sekai and add custom profiles not whatever the hell that is goodness gracious

the qol features for the song selection are cool, being able to sort by genre and stuff. not sure why youd want to use them but its nice

new unit not being announced but im still coping there will be another one. surely.

the new art style will take some getting used to but im not totally against it, though it doesnt feel as bandori-y without the random lines in their eyes

I'm having some mixed feelings about this 6th Anniversary update...

Yup, that's right guys I'm BACK with the weirdest update of all time.

First of all...

I'm LOVING the new Afterglow outfits. I'm so glad that they made them different for every member instead of having them all be the same.

I'm not sure what's happening with the art style here, though. It's weird, but I like it.

MISAKI IS FREE. FINALLY

SHE FINALLY GET'S WHAT SHE DESERVES. I don't know if this has to do with one of the HHW stories because I haven't read a single story since 2021 (lol), but I'm thrilled!

Now here's where things get more negative.

I'm not a fan of the 3D models.

They look really unpolished and odd, it just wasn't a good idea. It feels like Bandori is just copying what Project Sekai.

The models do seem to have some cool animation features, like the way that they move their fingers, chords and music stuff, etc. But even in 3D live mode, the models have really weird shadows.

WHY DID BANDORI DO THIS. WHY WAS THERE EVER A NEED FOR FIVE STARS.

This completely devalues all the other 4*'s that I have. It took YEARS to get all of those! And now they won't even be that good.

I am glad that they're doing the Kirameki card transfer, though. That means I'll at least have one five star for 6th anni.

But part of this also feels really weird, because even though Kirameki cards are awesome, they don't have, like, astonishing art or costumes.

THIS I am excited for, though. Kirameki AND Dreamless with new five stars?! This is great!

But with my luck I'm gonna get absolutely no good cards lol

I absolutely HATE this new decoration feature. Bandori isn't a silly life simulation decorating game, it's a rhythm game. The dumbest feature of 2023.

All together, I'm really bummed out.

The game is trying to be too much like every other game out there. And with games like D4DJ and Pjsekai, Bandori has lost the spotlight. All of these efforts they've been putting in to regain it are just tanking the game's reputation. Maybe after this anniversary, Bandori might need to go. (Even though that would be super sad.)

This update is probably going to lose lots of Bandori fans, sadly.

First of all 3D LIVES! honestly stunning as all hell I love them. Not too much to say tbh

Next there's the new rarity. Brings me back to when there was a whole template going around about 5 star rarity cards. How time flies. These cards better be drop dead gorgeous though. I'm talking mona lisa level shit. ALSO if events are going to be 2 5 stars and 1 4 star from now on then can 10 pulls be 4 star guaranteed? I'm just /j but imagine

I AM NOT READY FOR THE 3RD YEARS TO GRADUATE I'm going to be so damn emotional MY GIRLS ARE GROWING UP! the new song is so good to they're so good

I'm about to have a fucking field day with the new costume feature imagine all the costumes for different characters I could put other characters in...

It's also crazy how we'll be getting misaki on stage like that's a fun little feature I like it

one thing I don't like is the NEW UI!! IT'S AWFUL!!! It's so plain I already miss the sparkly shiny UI we have and it's not even gone. IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!!!!

My last thought is to wish people comparing these features to pjsekai a very shut the fuck up. So many of these have shown up in rhythm games other than pjsekai not everything is about your mid game

Even after and looking at the Rinko cards I’ve missed for 2 years, her “Stage Outfit” 4* is the best of the best. idc. The “Me and My Piano” 4* go 2nd and the Bride Rinko (black or white) goes 3rd…The new cards really look so good, it got me liek “damn, I missed THESE?!”

can i just say. i hate most of the big changes bandori is adding.

they are literally just turning it into project sekai at this point and it’s so fucking frustrating to see something that i love be clogged up with useless pay to win features that NOBODY WANTS.

sure, mastery rank can improve talent, and sure you get rewards from that dumbass battle pass thing. and sure, whatever 5stars. cool! 3d mvs, wow, awesome!

but at the same time, bandori has been fine without them for YEARS. it’s biggest appeal over project sekai has always been the lack of unnecessary features to overcomplicate what is a simple concept: collect cute anime girl and note go tap tap.

these are, in my opinion, some of the worst features of project sekai. and now they’re going to be in bandori. great.

i guess it’s dumb to be upset about a gacha game being play to win,, but that’s what i liked about bandori. it’s got pay to win aspects like every gacha game will, but it’s always been so much more focused on the characters and the cards and the stories.

not features stolen from another game that most people won’t touch after a week and will end up just eating up more storage JUST LIKE THEY ALREADY DO IN PROJECT SEKAI.

it’s just… so frustrating. i am very, very unhappy. maybe this is a pessimistic take but frankly i think that by trying to clone project sekai, bandori is going to run it’s already dwindling support into the ground.

because nobody likes a knockoff, ESPECIALLY at the expense of a good game.

sorry if you’re excited for any of this stuff. i just cannot force myself to feel anything positive about the bastardisation of one of my favourite games & biggest special interests!
