Whats the rank titles are based on? It's my first time going for an event title and I wnat the top 5000 one. Is the rank the one for points earned or highest score on the event song?

Being completely honest: I hate that song with a passion (I turn off the sound every single time because I can't listen to it at all) and no matter how much I try, I can't understand why many players seem to like it. This songs gets picked a lot when I'm on Multi Lives and I got really curious to know if the song really is loved by many or just give us more points. Please, answer me with sincerely.
