Kaede was actually the first one of these kids who popped into existence, since he was a preexisting OC who didn't belong to any franchise at all. in fact, Sirenity came into being because I felt like putting Kaede into a fanband, lol. I pretty much just throw all my favourite tropes on him & Yanagi and that's why he has to suffer like he does.

although I didn't mean to make him suffer THAT much in the band story ... sorry, Kaede, you're just too easy to be mean to ...

Kaede ... doesn't have it easy. he and his twin brother Yanagi grew up being raised mainly by the staff of their household, since their parents were usually gone for work, and were extremely close when they were children. they've been playing the piano and violin respectively since then, as they were expected to learn a classical instrument. however, (as of yet unrevealed) Things Happened and caused a rift between the two of them that they both suffer under immensely.

because it reminded him too much of his brother, Kaede didn't really pursue the piano, instead opting to join the football club. but it's still something that he grew up with and writing songs helped him work through his feelings, so he could never really get away from it. and as such, he somehow ended up being forced scouted into Sirenity by a very insistent Mae.

Kaede is actually a pretty popular guy (though I didn't have much chance to show it in the band story) and someone with a lot of friends, but he rarely shows his true feelings, which are a lot more complicated than he'd let others know. being in Sirenity though means that those feelings catch up with him faster than he can run away, and as a result he ends up wavering and landing in downward spirals pretty easily. despite being a friendly and approachable guy on the outside, he's actually kind of a worrywart. if there's anyone I had to compare him to, it'd be probably be Wataru (brother complex and all, coughs)

Kaede is my child and I'm glad I got to work with him in the band story as much as I did! his character turned out a lot more pronounced than I'd initially feared (I figured he'd get outshone by people like Mae or Hayato, but he works off them much better than I thought he would). please appreciate him he desperately needs the validation
