As I said before, I don't really follow the D4DJ project so I'm not as active in the fanbase, but apparently people don't like Merm4id because they're "hyper-sexualized", but honestly? Unpopular opinion: They're not that sexualized.

For one, they're college students and therefore adults, so them being the more fanservice-y unit isn't as problematic. I saw someone express some worry about the seiyuu, but fear not! All of the Merm4id seiyuu are adults.

Second, their designs could be so much worse. I don't really know how to describe it nor do I want to provide examples, but for lack of a better explanation, they could be wearing the skimpiest swimsuits on the planet as opposed to simply showing off some skin.

Third off, DON'T SLUT-SHAME WOMEN. Like, Jesus. That should be pretty self-explanatory; don't call women slurs like "slut" or "whore". Women have every right to express themselves however they want as long as it's not problematic.

Fourth, I really hope this doesn't erupt into really bad discourse, especially since the activity rules state that discourse is considered a part of harassment/rudeness "at varying degrees", and an example of discourse posting is debate on the sexualization of characters. If D4DJ gets its own site akin to Banpa, I hope the Merm4id discourse won't worsen.

In conclusion, Merm4id doesn't deserve all this hate and I figured I might as well share my thoughts because I genuinely hate discourse and I don't want things to get worse; Banpa is one of the most positive communities I've ever found myself in, and there's little discourse (unlike twitter and sukutomo).

Of course, I'm not saying you have to like Merm4id, and it's okay if you're not comfortable with them. I'm just sharing my opinions, that's all.

yay!!! i got my favorite arisa 4*!!!

i'm seeing plenty of d4dj stuff here; i havent really been following the project and if i were to play the game i'd rather wait for the global version, but from what i've seen my favorite units are peaky pkey and rondo, and my favorite girls are aoi and kyoko ^_^

current mood: wishing for arashi to be real so i can smooch her pretty face. i just want her to be my gf is that oh so hard to ask

so reon is my second favorite gyro boy so far (nayuta is my favorite); despite this i feel like he's not as developed at the moment but i'm sure aaside will flesh him out a lot more. so far he seems like a mix between ran and sayo: he's emo and kinda aloof like ran but he's also easily worked up, and he's described as being the type who doesn't stop what he's doing until he excels at it, kinda like sayo! i also like to envision him as an emo bitch who's still not over mcr's breakup; he gave off those vibes ever since his design was revealed ddskjdlk

tomoru is my favorite fantome iris boy design-wise, but character-wise, my favorite is koharu. tomoru's offstage design reminds me of akiren from p5 and he's quite cute!! his light design is definitely the coolest imo, i lowkey want his guitar. meanwhile koharu is the most interesting fantome iris boy to me; i really like how he's described as being super manly personality-wise yet he has long pink hair, works as a nursery school teacher, and willingly wears dresses and makeup as part of his haru persona. his haru persona being listed as female is also interesting; i guess this makes him something of a drag queen? idk much about drag culture so please dont maul me ^^;

since dreamfes is coming up, i might as well share some predictions for potential card themes!! ras and morfonica excluded bc they probs wont be getting dreamfes cards for a while

kasumi: star themed

rimi: chocolate (or sweets in general) themed

saaya: she already has a bakery-themed card, so maybe she'll get something highlighting her motherly personality? idk

arisa: probably bonsai/plant themed

moca: bread maybe a sporty street-style card?? idk this is me being biased but i really want her to get a tomboy look; im a tomboy myself and i have a big penchant for tomboy characters 👉👈

himari: she'll either get something pink and girly or something that's simultaneously cute and cool/punkish, idk (think kuromi ig)

tomoe: she already got a taiko-themed card, so she'll probably get a biker/punk themed card!! that would be SO cool

tsugu: coffee shop themed

aya: ULTRA PINK FEMME. LOTS OF BOWS AND FRILLS.

hina: onee-chan jk, i actually have no idea??

chisato: theater themed

eve: she already has a bushido/samurai-themed card and she already has a card depicting her in a finnish dress, so maybe she'll get something that invokes traditional japanese beauty

yukina: DEFINITELY going to get a cat-themed card, but it'll probably have less of a cutesy image and more of a mature, elegant goth image. it's hard to explain :T

rinko: idk, she already has a piano themed card and she probs wont get another rpg-themed one
