Ha-PSA time!

We've been getting more and more reports about people swearing without using the #Swearing tag, but the thing is, that's not what I'll be talking about. Instead, I'll talk about the type of user, who reports stuff like that, shocking I know.

Now, "What's the problem with people reporting that stuff?". This question has multiple answers.

  • First off, spam. It's okay to post a couple of reports, but please don't go out of your way to fish out and spam reports about 3-month-old activites. The same goes for spamming a report of a singular thing. We had to go through 32 reports yesterday, when the usual amount of reports is about 0-3. Also please try to keep your report messages at a reasonable length. Don't make them too short and info-less nor essay-long with too much information, if you do decide to post multiple reports.
  • Second, don't insult the user(s) you're reporting in your report(s). Especially when all the user did was not include the #Swearing tag. Like, I'm seeing users get insulted pretty heavily, just for not using the #Swearing tag, despite being really depressed in said post. I would name examples, but those are really inappropriate and would probably get me kicked out of the mod team if I mentioned them fdghsj. Some of the insulted users are friends of mine and I just get kinda sad having to read through that stuff. The funniest one I got was "Ban this satanic Kaoru lesbian for not using the #Swearing tag", just wonderful, but please don't insult people, even if it's in a joke-y manner. Not all reports are like this one. More often than not, they're quite insensitive and again, please refrain from insulting people like that. This also goes for the moderation team. For users who are unaware, we have two different moderator roles for this site. One searches and reports problematic activities, just like you all can, while the other acts upon said reports. While we always try to be online and to handle things in a timely manner, please understand that we're currently all volunteers, so we can't always be here to immediately deal with things. The reporting system is there so that users can help lift some of the responsibility off of our shoulders while double-checking our work. No one likes it when people talk about others behind their back.
  • While we're at the topic of talking behind someone's back, it would also help if you didn't file reports anonymously. Sometimes we want to message the individual for more info about their report, but we can't do that without a source. Please don't be afraid to show yourself! It doesn't matter what type of report you file in, nor if you english is bad or not, you're still valid!
