Hirabiki

Oh hello!! Call me Hirabiki, (or TwoLeaf ...if you really don't want non-English name) I truly started Bandori on English version... on the day English version is out "worldwide", for the sole purpose of evaluating the entire game of Bandori now that there is zero language barrier. I knew ZERO things about the anime or the seiyuu ...other than that the game exists. I am what we all call a textbook definition of "New players". Turns out I genuinely love it! I did touch Bandori JP on June 2017 buuut it didn't interest me at all after I finished tutorial and I just treated it as part of the background noise of dozens of idol games. What about today? Tough luck but I have NO PLANS to play Bandori JP, because without relying on English for everything the girls say, JP is not worth playing for me.
If you want to know my personality, just refer to Michelle/Misaki. That pretty much me! Nothing else beyond that!

Ready to meet a player with a completely different background? Brace yourselves...

This fact might hit you a bit but... I am NOT a fan of Love Live ...well not before I quit LLSIF since July 2016 after playing for almost 1 year and couldn't bear the burn of not getting a single real UR ever.
Yes, your eyes aren't getting fooled here. Why do I openly brag about not being a LL fan? Because, I just want to see people like me. Don't get the wrong idea, being a LL fan is great! I can just look elsewhere you know? But to be real, I simply does not know you girls and guys in Bandori well at all. It's bad to assume that almost every single one of you in Bandori Party are fans of Love Live (and maybe have Sukutomo and still plays LLSIF), but without knowing who are and who aren't, there's no choice.

In reality, I am A BIG FAN of iDOLM@STER and its two mobile rhythm games Mirishita and Deresute... And because of that, once English version of Bandori is out and I can actually understand everything the girls say, Pastel*Palettes turns out to be exactly what I never thought I needed to make me in love with this game and to keep going! Going through their band story as a big fan (a Producer) of a game that is all about managing talent agency (765 Productions), just like one for Pastel*Palettes gave me amazing insights on the alternative perspective of non-utopian talent agency and I had real fun critiquing the staff of the talent agency for their decisions.

Are you in my same boat? A fan of iDOLM@STER who plays MLTD or CGSS, Bandori (duh), BUT NOT Love Live? If so make yourself heard by me!!!!

Pastel*Palettes and the members Aya and Eve is the sole reason I initially got attached to Bandori and is one of the main things that keep me going with the game! (I will be REALLY delighted if either Aya or Eve is your best girl. Though if not then what about Michelle?) And with that, everything else outside the Idol Band makes me genuinely invested, including the member conversations in various Areas with the depth of content SO DEEP that IT BLOWS iM@S MLTD idol room conversion RIGHT OUT OF THE WATER!!

I also really like the other bands, especially Hello Happy World! They're so pure and HAPPY!! Though Kokoro is not my standout. That belongs to Michelle. Even though I love Pastel*Palettes and their members and story, I have to agree that Roselia have THE BEST SONGS in Bandori which means my no.1 favorite band for their MUSIC alone is Roselia. I just find the girls and their story behind Roselia to not be that much engaging for me... But really though, to all Roselia fans who love the GIRLS and their story, not just their songs, what make you appreciate them as individual girls?
I am well aware that this community is fragile and might look like it could undergo episodes of unrest at any moment, but I want this introduction to be an opportunity for discovering people with same background as me. (which is RARE!)

So if only that turns out to be the case, now it's YOUR chance to shine!

Bryne

First time posting but I know everyone's excited with all the new news but I do want to remind everyone that Yurishii (Lisa's seiyuu) is retiring this month and the 5th live will be her final activity for BanG Dream and her seiyuu career. SO WHEN the new seiyuu is announced please welcome her with open arms!!! I just don't want people mad when Lisa's seiyuu changes and believe it's sudden (Yurishii announced her retirement late last year, and her health comes first)

Chisato as a Character (1/3)

I should say beforehand that if you don't like Chisato, you're perfectly obligated not to, but I hope that after reading this you'll (if you didn't before) be able to separate a likable character from a well written one.

The main gripes people have with Chisato are her callousness and the air she gives off (couldn't really phrase this one correctly but I'll elaborate on it later).

Chisato's ruthlessness and tendencies to borderline backstab are traits that have been developed from showbiz. From a very young age, she's been exposed to the lack of authenticity of Hollywood, and as a result, she's conditioned herself to be able to make decisions that will push foward her career. If you are compassionate, people will step over you. Morality, at least human morality, is not what lands you a singing label, or a starring role in a movie.

Chisato is not a bad person at heart. But she's also not naive, and she knows that she should be putting her time and effort into something that will garner profits. Chisato didn't put her whole into being a part of Pastel*Palettes because in her (more experienced) perspective, she understands that the members are passionate, but they also may not have what it takes to succeed, especially after their performance failure. (the failure would also damage Chisato's reputation and would result in her losing more opportunities to advance her career)

What Chisato tells Aya that makes her cry is that "hard work does not guarantee success." This phrase in particular hits Aya especially hard because Aya had been working fruitlessly for years to get into the position she is currently in, and at that plot point the band was doing terribly. Although Chisato didn't realize it at the moment, she respects people with strong work ethics (although if done pointlessly annoys her), which is why she gives Aya this piece of advice, albeit bluntly.

Did she set out to purposely antagonize Aya? No.

I would also like to bring to attention a significantly more popular character that has said something very similar, but was almost completely ignored:

Source 1

The context of this quote is from Mari Ohara, after she rejects Aqours' first promotional video. This is another character who understands the mechanism behind business well, and similarly to Chisato, both of them put up a persona or a facade that hides some aspects of their personality.

One of the reasons why Mari saying this was so easily overlooked was because of the characters on the receiving end.

Chika, the leader of Aqours, is a genki-esque type of character, which means she is hardheaded and strives to stay positive. Chika is the type of person to take Mari's criticism in stead at best, or ignore it at worst.

Aya contrasts from Chika in this manner. As seen here:

Source 2

Aya takes what people think about her much more personally. She will go out of her way to see what other people think of her, or the band. Aya is portrayed as a sensitive character and she tends to fall under her insecurities at times.

If Chika was more prone to needing self-validation, and if she had expressed being upset after what Mari had said to her, would people dislike Mari for giving her honest input?

My last point: the stark differences between the masks Mari and Chisato hide behind is a determining factor in the way the main audience perceives them.

Mari plays up her cheerfulness. Chisato acts polite and distant.

Mari has friends she is mostly honest with, but occasionally, they will be able to tell when her carefree facade slips, usually when she is feeling sad. Because the story does not revolve around her, no one knows exactly what goes on in Mari's head besides the other characters (meaning the viewers only get to see her likable side). A lot of Mari's development stems around her dynamic between the other third years, and she does not get any major developments and changes to her character. Overall, people warm up to her because she is portrayed 99% of the time at her best, which is why some of her comments are brushed over.

PP's story does not revolve around making friends, and Chisato is a very closed off person by nature. Arguably, PP's band story is more realistic than Aqours in terms of the corruption and competitiveness of the idol industry. As a result, people don't consider Chisato's need to distance herself from the band to protect her career, and overlook the character development she undergoes (from wanting to withdraw from the band, to opening up to her bandmates to succeed as PP, even if it means risking failure). If you delve deeper to read her card stories, you'll find that her struggle to be honest with her friends is what makes her so much more realistic and driven because of her origins.

TL;DR: Chisato is being judged too harshly for being human.

(Please take the time to read her main and memorial stories! Honestly most of the points I made are conclusions you can draw on your own.)

Sintos

Just a thought, but...

What if Misaki had a solo where she'd sing about her life as Michelle?

I call it: PROJECT "A Bear's Life!!!"

Goodbye.

Unpopular opinion:

I used to dislike Chisato. I was worried she would be vain and the way she talked to Kaoru really irked me. But, I re-read PasuPare's band stories. I came to understood her character. I came to understood why she acts the way she does, even with Kao-chan Kaoru. Then, I admired her beauty and her excellent voice, courtesy of the glorious Sumippe.

Now she's my fourth favorite girl and I want worship her as much as Kaoru does. She is a queen.

I want to take moment here to apreciate the BanPa community.

I love this community, Generally, everyone is so nice and respects eveyone's opinions, and we all want to make sure there isn't any negativity. I think the staff are doing a good job managing posts here and making sure that negativity isn't in this site, but leting people speak as freely as posible too. There has been a bit of negativity with the whole unpopular opinions, but it is starting to get back to normal.

The reason I am saying this is because of a bad experience I had before with a Bandori community. I'm from Spain, so I tried looking for a Spanish community. I found the Spanish Bandori Amino, and I entered, but it ended up not beng a good choice. Everyone was hating on Hello Happy World for beeing too happy and Kokoro havng a bad voice, the 5 PoPiPa solo songs were hated by everyone, and more. But what really made me want to instantly leave was a specific tag. It was called something like "#worstband", and as the name says, it was about naming your worst band and saying all the reasons you have for hating it, and if that wasn't enough, then yo had to name your worst girl from that band and say why you didn't like her. And it was even worse when I stumbled across one of these posts talking about PoPiPa beng worst band. As some of you may know, I love PoPiPa with all of my heart and It doesn't deserve this treatment. And it only got worse when it was the moment to talk about it's worst girl, which was O-Tae, who is my absolute fave, and the reasons this user had for disliking both the band an dthe character were really dumb. I will stop talking about that awful community because I feel like I will get sick is I keep going on like this.

I'm sorry if this came of as very negative. I will even delete it if needed, but I needed to free what I thought about it. So thank you to everyone in this magnificient community. You were what I needed to free myself from that bad experience, and can't apreciate you enough.
