drew my favs again

its not too late to hop onto the bandwagon, right....? only difference is, im only going to be sharing my favorite sets for each band, not my least favorites. granted, there are some sets that aren't my cup of tea, but i don't really wanna complain/be too negative so i'll just gush about the sets i love ahahahaha

also i got my wisdom teeth removed today and i am in PAIN. so much PAIN.

well, without further ado, let's get started!

popipa:

i really like how the black and white is contrasted with a little bit of color in this set! idk how to describe it but the outfits are kinda...vintage schoolgirl in a way! i also like the houndstooth pattern! overall this is a nice look for popipa imo, i only need kasumi and rimi to complete the set but i doubt i'll ever get them :(

afterglow:

yeahhhh, i have two favorite afterglow sets!! i picked two bc i cant decide between them (though im leaning more towards next grade spring sky bc i actually completed that set). the persona set is just so cool to me as a p5 fan! especially joker!ran, i will forever be salty that i won't be getting her any time soon >:U

as for the next grade spring sky set, i think the green military jackets with the fur trim are AWESOME and i like the sort of urban feel the outfits give off, for lack of a better description.

pasupare:

i really like when pasupare drifts away from their typical cutesy pastel aesthetic and tries out a completely different motif, and this set stands out the most to me! the samurai look heavily contrasts with their normal frilly outfits and thats honestly poggers...

roselia:

i love how roselia went for a more punk rock/rebel image in this set! studded leather jackets/vests are my JAM. the only thing is, i didnt bother pulling for yukina/ako/lisa bc i was trying to recover stars after i wasted a bunch of them trying to get dreamfes kaoru :(

harohapi:

im not too big on kokoro's trained in this set, but otherwise i think this set is really cool! i like urban/street fashion a lot and that's why this set sticks out to me <3

morfonica:

this set is drop dead GORGEOUS. i love the heavy use of blue, the gemstones, and the starry skies. not to mention the flowing butterfly wings attached to the back of the skirts.....

ras:

i am so tempted to complete this set even though i'll be saving for dreamfes tomoe. i don't know how to describe it, but the heavy use of turquoise in the background combined with the killer outfits make this set one of my favorite sets from 2020. i might pull specifically for masuki.....

if nija and -chomamali- can do this then so can i

2020 sucked but it was a good year for me in terms of art; i drew a lot more than in previous years and the fact that i got an ipad in late june most certainly helped!

god this card is so cool....the warm lighting really helps drive home the intensity of this outfit!! i like how this card reflects ran's traditional japanese upbringing while also reflecting her rebellious rock aesthetic. im currently saving up for this card; my goal is to at least obtain the dreamfes 2.0 cards for my top 5 girls (tomoe, kaoru, ran, maya, hagumi) so i can have a whole band featuring them!

im so glad they gave maya glasses for this card, she looks way cuter with them imo. the steampunk mechanic look fits her very well, it's a nice change from pasupare's cutesy pastel aesthetic! also her twintails.....so cute......

as soon as the illustration for this card was revealed on twitter i IMMEDIATELY started gushing over it....it's easily my favorite rokka card so far; the blue/green theme and general aesthetic of the outfit is my absolute JAM...im so glad this is an event card

(warning: long post containing me rambling about hypmic ahead)

i've been into hypmic for over a year now (i got into the franchise in late july 2019) and it's grown into one of my hyperfixations, so i figured i might as well just. make an entire post where i gush about my best boys + my favorite division; i was primarily inspired by everyone talking about their favorite d4dj girls so i thought, why not talk about my favorite characters from another idol franchise i happen to be really into?

ok, let's get started!

first up is saburo! sure, he can be a narcissistic little shit (i say that with love) but that's what makes him so entertaining! i highkey relate to his snarky personality and tendency to believe he's better than most adults (seriously, there's so many stupid adults out there -_-). also, he's so cute!

riou is soooooo gentle and sweet. you'd expect him to be quite intimidating and threatening at first glance (especially considering who his teammates are), but he's far from it! i honestly have a big crush on him, and if you ask me, his survival skills mean he'd make for a wonderful husband (minus the cooking...i dont want to eat rats and bugs). also, he's a himbo.

oh, ichiro, ichiro, ichiro....it's hard not to see why the fandom more or less unanimously loves him so much. he's a good big brother who unconditionally loves his bros, he's kind and supportive, he's helpful and reliable, he cooks, he cleans....ichiro, if you're reading this, i really wish you were my husband :(

samatoki wasn't initially one of my favorites but he warmed up to me as i grew more invested in the franchise and now he's one of the characters i draw the most. on one hand, he's a short-tempered, foul-mouthed gangster, but on the other hand, he's a big ol' softie who cares for his sister and respects women (no seriously! he once took down a shady massage business and rescued several uncomfortable women in skimpy outfits who were forced to work there. we stan!!)

and last but not least, my favorite division: the buster bros!!!

i just. LOVE their brotherly bonds and urban/street aesthetic. though the primary reason they're my favorite division is because i relate to all three of them in some way: weeb who gets excited talking about anime and hates those who pick on the weak (ichiro), occasionally brash and easily angered but has a strong sense of justice (jiro), snarky and dry at times (saburo). i really hope they win the second drb!!

everyone's talking about their favorite d4dj girls, so i figured i might as well talk about mine too!

i dont play gurumiku yet (im waiting for the global version; i'll consider playing when it comes out), but my absolute favorite girls so far are aoi and kyoko!! idk much about their characters but i just love the vibes they give off. they're both so cool!! especially aoi, im really big on masculine/androgynous girls so she's already won my heart...though kyoko is pretty awesome too! i like her voice a lot; aimi does a good job of utilizing a more mature voice compared to kasumi's higher + more energetic voice!

also my favorite units just so happen to be peaky p-key and rondo ahahahaha

also also: i am HIGHKEY considering making a hypmic-themed post where i just gush about my faves + the buster bros....mostly because seeing everyone gush about their favorite d4dj girls is inspiring me to infodump about one of my biggest hyperfixations dlskjlddfsll

not to start anything, but seeing people complain about the bs3 cards is already getting tiring and its only been like a day since the event started. tbh, i don't care about the card quality, i think they look fine to me. it's your opinion and all and i respect that, but please try to tone down the negativity, be tactful and respectful, and for the love of god, dont start discourse over something petty like this. we dont wanna be like sukutomo where people love to complain about everything <3
