Nija

follow-up post with more info / some corrections, thank you 4Gamer for being nowhere near as vague

alright, as promised, here's the summary of all the stuff the PASH & Anime Anime AAside articles are talking about!

this is gonna be kind of a long post, so bear with me. I'm also gonna mention stuff we already knew since a bunch of it is things where I'm not sure if I just assumed them (though they were never actually said), plus idk how well knowledge of the general gameplay is actually spread so!! here we go!!

if you want to see more pictures, go on the links above! I only picked some that I found important / helpful to understanding.

Everyday Life Part

this is basically the home screen we're used to from GaruPa, but with lots of extra options and stuff to do. everyone's all around the map, interacting with their environments, and they do stuff like part-time work, go to school, rehearse, etc. unlike in GaruPa, though, you're a lot more involved here, thanks to ...

Band Quests

every band gets their own quests, which will be unlocked as you go through the main story. I'm assuming these are basically (some of?) the Goals of the game; from what we see on the argnv band quest screen, on level 1 they're things like rehearsing for the first time or doing a live. since there's a quest level, it's pretty obvious to see that these will rise in difficulty as you go on ... duh.

these band quests are separated into

Mini Quests & Live Quests

Image

these you can find by tapping a character on the home screen, and in order to clear them, you have to make them do certain activities. the ones you can do are randomised, and the more time they take, the better the rewards. as one could guess, these are things that automatically happen once you assign them even if you close the app, so a bit like an idol raising game I guess lol. if you've played stuff that works with timers like these, you probably know this sorta stuff. the time it takes to complete an activity can be cut down with items that you get from playing sessions, which is pretty interesting! usually you'd need to spend gacha currency on these kinds of things lol, though I'm not gonna be surprised if you can still do that.

you see Miyuki on Yuuto's screen up there? from what I understand, if there's another character you make them do stuff alongside, you're gonna get conversations! ... which makes sense, I guess. in this case, the green icon is "university", so I suppose they'll run into each other there.

it also looks like some characters are better at stuff than others, so occasionally one of these quests can fail. (please be kind on your boys they're trying their best thank you)

once you've completed enough of those Mini Quests, you get Live Quests (again from the same screen). from what I'm gathering, these seem to be to just play a live. nope that's just what it looked like but the Anime Anime article kinda left out an important part here ... here's more info on that.

interestingly enough, the rhythm section isn't called "live", it's "session", so I'm thinking those two are actually different things? the article keeps talking about "preparing" for live shows, so maybe you can only play a proper "live" (the same thing but with better rewards, I'd assume) in certain situations. from what I understand, for example, you need to first get money from part-time jobs to be able to afford holding a live. but that has no influence on the main rhythm game, the "sessions".

SPEAKING OF WHICH!

Session Part

Image

it's the rhythm game sectiooooon woo what am I supposed to tell you about this that isn't super obvious (the Anime Anime article even said that it's pretty much the same as GaruPa lol)

BUT!!!!!!!! something that I wasn't sure about since it seemed kinda outlandish but they're actually doing it, the absolute mad lads: looks like you can change the characters in the MVs to whatever you damn well please. you can change the outfits, accessories (I think they're two different things?), AND instruments ... and put whichever character in whichever position. yes, that means you could technically make your dream band ... or force Nayuta to sing Banzai Rising while playing the keyboard. do whatever your heart desires. don't let your dreams be dreams. (all drummers band here we GO)

god they went all out with this part and here I thought they wouldn't even make the characters interchangeable cause it's inconvenient ... this game is so ambitious what the heck DeNa

looks like you can keep playing even if you hit 0 stamina which is neat! of course, you get less points & rewards that way, just like when you fail in multi live.

what's also interesting is that from the Everyday Life part you can get items that let you autoplay the songs! if you wanna tier an event or something that's definitely gonna be useful.

Story

the main story revolves around the Live Royal Fes, as we know. as is standard for rhythm games, you unlock more chapters as you climb in rank, duh. we've also seen before that bands have band ranks, so I'm assuming they'll do it like GaruPa and unlock the band story (which we knows exists cause we've heard the first chapters in the livestreams) that way.

but there's more!!

the conversations between characters in the Everyday Life part get properly archived on the History screen, and you get trophies for completing them! on this screen, we see the following tabs:

  • before coming to Tokyo
  • after coming to Tokyo
  • card episodes
  • area conversations

looks like we'll get lots of different stories that go into both the backstories of the characters and what they're up to now! lots of lore to dig into, hehe. (and probably also lots of completion rewards?)

there's a lot to find out about each character and it's beautifully organised I'm so glad ... the part of me that loves things that are neatly sorted into folders is crying joyfully ...

little notes

  • in the every day life part, everyone's share house (which acts as their home base) not only has a different interior, but also different background music. cute!!
  • the fact that I can put ZACK on trombone brings me immense amounts of joy
  • we're seeing the argnv 1* cards on the screen, but I'm assuming these are placeholders still. they've been the same every time we've seen them so far.
  • this game looks like GaruPa if GaruPa went absolutely ham on every single one of its features. it's clearly a labour of so much love and I'm so glad they're putting as much effort into it as they are and giving it the time in the oven that it needs to be as good as it can be!
  • if anyone wants me to, I can try and translate all the menu options? I'd wanna typeset it properly so it'd take a bit of time, but let me know if you'd like that!

OKAY THAT'S IT THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION I hope I didn't miss anything
